In the Creative and Cultural Industries (CCI), building a strong, supportive network is essential for a successful career. Recently, as part of our Erasmus+ project, “Unlocking Success in the Creative Industries: The Power of Peer Mentoring” , we hosted a highly engaging, 4-day Intensive Online Mentoring Training Camp.

Held from December 11 to 14, 2025, our virtual bootcamp brought together 15 brilliant creative professionals from Spain, France, and Turkey. These “First Generation” mentors dedicated themselves to a rigorous 24 hours of synchronous training.

A Cross-Border Digital Gathering

Despite the physical distance, the energy was electric. By connecting digitally, we established a cross-border peer support network that operates seamlessly across Europe. This format also allowed us to completely eliminate carbon emissions from flights and accommodation, making a massive contribution to our environmental sustainability goals.

What We Covered: Equipping the “First Generation” Mentors

Mentoring in the creative sector often happens informally. Our goal was to structure and professionalize this process. During the camp, our participants didn’t just listen to lectures; they actively engaged with innovative digital pedagogy techniques.

Here are a few highlights of what our mentors mastered:

  • The V.I.B.E. Framework: Learning to set clear goals by focusing on Vision, Needs, Barriers, and Action.
  • Active Listening with W.A.I.T.: Practicing the fundamental “Why Am I Talking?” principle to ensure mentees find their own solutions rather than just receiving one-way advice.
  • Combating Screen Fatigue: Implementing the “10-Minute Interaction Cycle” and “Mentorship Swap” methodologies to keep cognitive engagement high and prevent the typical webinar burnout.
  • Tackling Sector Realities: Addressing deep-rooted CCI challenges, such as Imposter Syndrome, creative burnout, and the tricky dynamics of freelance work.

From Training to Action: Empowering the “Rising Stars”

The true measure of our bootcamp’s success was what happened next. Armed with their new skills, all 15 mentors successfully completed a minimum of 4 hours of digital, one-on-one mentoring with “Rising Stars”—young creatives, recent graduates, and job seekers aiming to establish their careers in the sector.

The impact has been phenomenal. These young professionals received practical industry insights, personalized career guidance, and actionable strategies to navigate a highly competitive landscape. In fact, many of our mentors were so inspired that they exceeded their 4-hour commitment and voluntarily continued their support
